German double at the European Championships of cross-country skiing marathons 2012
Thomas Freimuth (GER; Skinfit Racing Team) becomes European Champion of cross-country skiing marathons in front of Toni Escher (GER; Fischer Subaru Racing Team) and Jiri Rocarek (CZE; Fischer Subaru Racing Team).
European Team Champion of cross-country skiing marathons becomes the Fischer Subaru Racing Team in front of the Löffler Skadi Loppet Team from Bodenmais (GER).
1.800 participants from 15 nations started at the Sumavsky Skimarathon in Kvilda (CZE). The German cross-country skiing marathon specialist Thomas Freimuth (Skinfit Racing Team) saved the title European Champion of cross-country skiing marathons in front of his fellow countryman Toni Escher (Fischer Subaru Racing Team) in an exciting final fight. Freimuth finished second in the day-ranking behind the Czech world-cup athlete Martin Jaks, who signed in the winners list of the Sumavsky Skimarathon. The leader after the first stage of the European Championships of cross-country skiing marathons (Koasalauf; AUT), Jiri Rocarek (CZE) won the bronze medal in the final ranking of the European Championships of cross-country skiing marathons.
Klara Moravcova (CZE) defended her margin after the first stage and won the title in front of her compatriots Adela Boudikova and Martina Stursova.
