7-Mila race began its history in 1964, when the first race was run as a tribute to the district's famous celebrity and Olympic medalist, Assar Rönnlund. 7-mila is a classic cross-country ski race that covers at its longest a distance of 74 km, passes through the beautiful Northern Forest and several villages on its way from Vindeln to Robertfors.
For most of the season Sami, indigenous people of Scandinavia, and reindeer are staying in the area. With a little bit of luck, you might catch a clean sight of the reindeers. Skiers can choose to start from four different locations with a varying race distance (74 km, 40 km, 24 km, 14 km) or set up as a relay team. We have chosen to name our races each slightly different depending on the set up distance. More information about the race details are given in the invitation.
The race goes through three municipalities starting in Vindeln, going through Umeå and ending in Robertsfors. During the competition approximately every five kilometers the athletes are provided with sports drinks and food. The race suits both the professional competitor and the casual skier. The race has a varied terrain and former contestants experienced the race positively as well as challenging. We look forward to your participation. Welcome to Sweden
