Morez is situated in the heart of der Jura mountains : 200 km far from Geneva in the north. These mountains are crossed by the mythical Transjurassienne. The Jura mountains which are 1720 high are hilly and scattered with majestuous lakes.
Thanks to beautiful sightseeing, bewitched forests and sparkling snow, the Jura mountains are a heaven to all nature enthusiasts.
Morez is also where the head office of La Transjurassienne is, where every winter the skiers come to get their bib and discover the partners' village.
Morez is a town of 6000 inhabitants situated at 800 meter high in the Jura mountains. With a large industrial past with notably watch making, enamel making, and glasses making. Morez is since 2006 classified "City of craft". It is also the world capital of glasses. It is actually Pierre Hyacinthe Cazeaux who created the first frame in 1796 in Morez.
Morez has the particularity of being surrounded by 3 viewpoints (La roche au Dade, La Roche Brulee et Le Bechet) but also by several viaducts built in the 19th century to connect Morez to the main cities such as Besancon and Dijon by train.
