Clara and Confortola win the Gsiesertal Lauf
Antonella Confortola Wyatt and Roland Clara won the main race of the 29th edition of the Gsiesertal Laufs in South Tyrol. In total, more than 2.000 participants started in this Italian Traditional race.
Victory for Clara
Despite the fact that nearly all national squad members of Italy also started in the race Roland Clara won the 42 km race in the free technique of the Gsiesertal Lauf. He finished 38 seconds in front of Thomas Morrigl, Fabio Santus (all ITA) and Johannes Dürr (AUT) and Pietro Piller Cottrer (ITA). Cristian Zorzi and Giorgio di Centa finished at the ranks seven and twelve. Antonella Confortola won the women’s race 2:32 minutes in front of Sabina Valbusa and Clara Bettega (all ITA).
Forstner wins long distance classic-race
The day before, the classic race was on the schedule of the Gsiesertal Lauf. Sergio Bonaldi (ITA) won the men’s race in front of Andy Gerstenberger (GER). Local hero Barbara Felderer and Thomas Moriggl won the 30 km race in the classic technique. The 30 km races on Sunday in the free technique were won by the Czech Veronika Vitkova and Enrico Nizzi (ITA). 2.159 participants from 32 nations started at best conditions on both days in the Gsieser Tal.
